We had a delightful fall outing this past weekend at Smith's Nursery in Benson! We took our youngest, oldest, and 2 of her friends.

We started out with some sweet treats from their cute ice cream/coffee shop! My daughter really liked the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino; the homemade ice cream was delicious, but my favorite was the hot apple cider- they had free samples- and it was amazing! The inside of the shop has fun artwork on the floor and windows, and the teens really enjoyed eating their treats in the rocking chairs!
As someone who loves plants, exploring their plant selection in the greenhouse was a must! They sell mums in all different colors and sizes, dried corn stalk bundles, some additional colorful outdoor flowers, pots/planters, and lots of plants for indoors. Their inside store has fresh produce, handmade breads and treats, amazing smelling seasonal soaps and lotions, and much more!

If you are looking for a variety of pumpkins, Smith's Nursery has it! What's helpful is that every pumpkin is individually marked with a price so there's no guesswork as to cost, and no need to weigh it! Just past the pumpkins are more flowers, shrubs, and trees for sale. Near the tables of pumpkins is a small playset with 2 swings, slides, and kid-sized picnic tables (along with an adult-sized one as well!). My 6 year old spent some time swinging and it was nice to be able to easily see her as we explored the pumpkins.

Next we headed to the tractor-pulled hayride. Ages 2 & up are $6 per person, or $22 for a family of up to 5 people. The ride takes you past their catch and release fishing ponds, past the greenhouses with its rows and rows of beautiful plants for sale, and through a path in the woods. It's a very lovely view the entire way!

The ride takes you out to the farm animals, where you can feed them with the bag of feed each person receives. This is what my 6 year old AND the teenagers enjoyed the most! It was so fun to have goats, a donkey, and a cow eat directly from your hand! Don't worry- there is a sink back at the market building where you can wash your hands!

Overall synopsis: we spent about an hour and a half enjoying Smith's Nursery. It's an affordable fall outing with the family and a great place to get unique pumpkins, beautiful mums, and delicious handmade fall treats! The staff was very friendly, and you can tell it's a wonderful family-owned business who care about their customers. But, if you are looking for a corn maze or fall play area (think corn pit) for the kids, you will need to look at other local places.
