Experience the Fall Charm of Sonlight Farms

By Sally Jensen, Macaroni KID Garner-Clayton-Smithfield Publisher October 22, 2025

We recently spent some time at Sonlight Farms in Kenly, and I was completely charmed by its beauty! With expansive grass lawns, a wooden bridge crossing a pond, and several tall pecan trees, it's the kind of place you just want to slow down and enjoy.  Attractions are spread across the farm’s open landscape, giving visitors scenic views and plenty of space to explore.

And it's as fun as it is beautiful! There were LOTS of great activities, and for all ages. My 10 & 11 year old loved the obstacle course, corn maze, inflatable jump pads, and pipe racing. My husband even gave the pipes a go — let’s just say it didn’t end gracefully, but it definitely got some laughs! 🤣

My 6 year old loved the corn crib, tractor pedal carts, barrel train, and the bungee bounce (note: that last one is an additional cost). All of the attractions are high quality and very well done which meant that my kids enjoyed them longer than they often do at other corn mazes. I really enjoyed the hayride- we opted for the bench seats instead of the hay!- and the ride around the farm was relaxing and beautiful. We spent 3 hours at the farm and easily could have lasted another hour with our older kids, but our youngest was pooped out from all the jumping and pedaling! We enjoyed some pecan pie... and I'm not usually a huge fan, but this was perfection! They also sell sweet potato pie if that's more of your thing. ☺️

Sonlight Farms is only open on Saturdays, so you'll want to get in a visit this Saturday before they close for the season! Most Saturdays they have different themed days (sweet potato day and grandparents day). This Saturday it's the Blackout Challenge! From 6:30-9:00pm there will be concessions, hayrides, games, and the corn maze that you can explore with a flashlight, and at only $7 admission! If you miss it this week, I highly recommend putting it on your list to visit next October!

Overall: Sonlight Farms is a total score for fall fun! The farm is away from towns and traffic making it a peaceful, relaxing experience with serene views. With attractions being spread out, crowds aren't a problem! And you won't be disappointed with the variety and quality of attractions. I highly recommend taking your family to enjoy all that Sonlight Farms has to offer!
